Viking Mars calls at Kuşadası in April and May 2027, times not announced. Why spring is the season to try all four stops if your call is long enough.
Viking Mars is listed in Kuşadası twice in the port schedule we follow: once in April and once in May 2027, both midweek. The times are not announced yet. Spring is the kindest season for this coast on foot, with mild days and green hills, which makes it the best chance to see all four classic stops if the ship stays long enough.
Why spring suits a full day
The Ephesus walk from the upper gate down to the lower gate takes about two to two and a half hours on open ground. In spring that is a pleasure rather than an endurance test. You will also find the House of the Virgin Mary, Şirince and the hills around Selçuk at their greenest. Mid-morning can still bring tour groups to Ephesus, so an early start helps, but the heat is rarely the problem it becomes in summer.
The full-day order we would suggest
- First: the House of the Virgin Mary, in the hills above Ephesus, 30 to 45 minutes.
- Second: about 15 minutes down to the Ephesus upper gate, then the walk to the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre; the driver waits at the lower gate.
- Third: the Temple of Artemis on the edge of Selçuk, a short stop by the single standing column.
- Last: Şirince for lunch, then roughly 35 to 40 minutes back to the port.
All four take about 7.5 to 8.5 hours port to port. Add 15 to 30 minutes to get off the ship and the hour you need to be back before departure, and the whole set wants a stay of around 9.5 hours or more.
If the stay turns out shorter
Drop from the end: first Şirince, then the Temple of Artemis. Ephesus with the House of the Virgin Mary needs about 4.5 to 5 hours port to port; Ephesus alone about 3.5 to 4 hours. Tell the driver at the port exit what time you must be back, and agree the order together.

Before you book
You pay the driver in cash; there is no card in the taxi. Entrance fees, food and drinks are not included, and opening hours change with the season.
