Viking Sea appears twice in the Kuşadası port schedule we follow, on two Wednesdays in May 2027, with times not announced yet. If you are travelling as a group of friends or a few couples sharing one taxi, the hardest part of the day is often not the route but agreeing on it. Five minutes of planning on board saves an argument at the Ephesus gate.
Settle three things before you go ashore
The must-see
Ask everyone for one place they would be sorry to miss. Usually it is Ephesus, but someone may care most about the House of the Virgin Mary, or about a long lunch in Şirince. Whatever wins goes first in the plan, so it cannot be squeezed out later.
The pace
Ephesus is a walk of about two to two and a half hours on uneven stone. If one person in the group walks slowly, plan for that pace, not the fastest one. The driver drops you at the upper gate and waits at the lower gate, so nobody has to walk back uphill.
The turn-back time
Agree a time at which you head back to the port, whatever is happening. It should be at least 60 minutes before the ship departs, or earlier if the all-aboard time printed on board says so. Give it to the driver at the start; they will keep an eye on it too.
What fits, depending on the hours
- Ephesus only: about 3.5 to 4 hours port to port
- Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary: about 4.5 to 5 hours
- Plus the Temple of Artemis: about 5 to 5.5 hours
- All four, with Şirince for lunch: about 7.5 to 8.5 hours
Once Viking publishes the times for your date, choose the line that fits and send it to us. If the group cannot agree, Ephesus plus one extra stop is a fair compromise on most calls.

Money matters for a shared taxi
The fare is paid to the driver in cash; there is no card in the taxi, so decide beforehand who pays and how you split it. Entrance fees, food and drinks are not included and are paid at each place. The basic ride is the port to Ephesus and back; extra stops at the House of the Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis or Şirince cost extra. Tell us the ship, the date and how many of you there are.
