Viking Vesta in Winter: A Kuşadası Yellow Taxi Plan

Viking Vesta calls at Kuşadası mostly from December 2026 to March 2027, times not announced. A yellow taxi plan for wet, short winter days.

Most of Viking Vesta's Kuşadası calls fall in the quiet months: three in December 2026, four in January, two in March and one in May 2027, according to the port schedule we follow. None has published times yet. If you are coming in winter, the bigger question is not the clock but the weather, and that is what this page is about.

What a winter port day here is like

Expect mild air by northern standards, but also rain showers, wind off the sea and early dusk. The upside is space: the coach crowds of summer are mostly gone, and you may have long stretches of Ephesus to yourself.

  • Footwear first. Wet marble is slippery. Walk on the rougher edges of the paving where you can.
  • A light waterproof beats an umbrella on a windy hillside.
  • Layers. The House of the Virgin Mary sits higher in the hills and can feel cooler than the port.
  • Daylight. Plan to finish outdoor sights well before late afternoon.

A rain-aware order of stops

When showers come and go, flexibility is worth more than a fixed timetable, and that is the point of having your own taxi. A sensible winter order is the House of the Virgin Mary first, then the Ephesus upper gate about 15 minutes below it, and the walk down to the lower gate where the driver waits. If the sky darkens, the Temple of Artemis is the easy stop to drop; it is a single column in a field and needs only a few minutes. Şirince, with its cafés, makes a warm end to the day if there is time.

Inside Ephesus, the covered Terrace Houses need a separate ticket, but on a wet day being under a roof can be welcome. Ask at the site whether they are open on your date.

The times are not announced for any of these calls. When they are, count back one hour from departure for your return to the port and about 15 to 30 minutes for getting off the ship. Ephesus alone takes roughly 3.5 to 4 hours port to port; adding the house and the temple brings it to about 5 to 5.5 hours; all four stops need about 7.5 to 8.5 hours.

Settling the day before you sail

The driver is paid in cash. Entrance fees, food and drinks are not included, and winter opening hours can be shorter, so check current opening hours. The basic ride covers the port, Ephesus and back; adding the House of the Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis or Şirince costs extra. Tell us the ship, the date, how many of you there are and whether you prefer a short or a full day. Our Viking Vesta page explains the port pickup, and the cruise transfer page describes how the meeting at the port exit works.
