What's at Pamukkale?
Travertines
White calcium carbonate terraces — paradise for walking and photography. You must remove your shoes (preserves the formations). In summer the water is cool; in winter, mildly warm.
Hierapolis Ancient City
UNESCO World Heritage Roman city — theatre, necropolis, north gate. Same ticket as Pamukkale.
Cleopatra Pool
Thermal pool with submerged ancient ruins — extra ticket (~€8) to swim. Thermal water is said to help rheumatism.
What to Wear
You walk barefoot on travertines — bring comfortable sandals or soft slippers. The white surface reflects sun strongly, sunglasses and a hat are essential. Summer is very hot — bring water (we keep some in the car).
Best Photography Hours
